RENDEZVOUS

WITH

THE INSANE

INSIDE

THE FLOATING HOUSE

OF

UNREALITY

(on reading John WienerÕs poem--A Poem for the Insane)

Creatures

of obscure beauty

meander

around the rim of reality

&

disappear in mindless strolls

along

Avenue Madness

&

a Dali clock

shrinks

& shrivels up

into

a fetal-like grotesquerie

in

the country of schizophrenia

&

with existential courage

or

reckless self-endangerment

IÕve

come here

for

a rendezvous with the insane inside the Floating House of Unreality.

Hello,

Dali & Munch

Hello,

Van Gogh & Virgil

swirling

in the dust devil of

madness

& shrieking in the

kingdom of the damned,

my

Sphinx-like guides

to beauty & grotesquerie

via

the Zen of Insanity,

IÕve

come here

to

understand

&

bless your madness

&

by blessing-free you.

IÕve

come here

to

receive your madness

&

with your blessing-be freed.

LEFT BEHIND

Left behind

on

an old fashioned merry-go-round

in

Old Brooklyn

in

the

Coney Island of my mournful mind

&

around & around

I

go

on

my

whirling brainwaves

while

the world rushes away from me,

like

a

monstrous mustang galloping into a black hole,

&

IÕm

left behind,

lost in an obsolete landscape,

an old man

drifting in a vacant world filled with ghosts,

an old man

alone,

&

searching for the way back to my birth-home

DARK-MAN,

LIGHT-MAN

I am

dark-man hiding in the light

&

I am

light-man hiding in the darkness

of

the dream that is my life

one,

&

the other too,

I am

a young old man

flowing in the opalescent flames of a miracle

&

I am

olive-colored man

in

metamorphosis

in

the dream that is my life

nestled

in

a womb chair

in

the wilderness

of

my mind-soul

waiting

to

be born again

in

the celestial light of self-discovery

where

duality flows into the oneness of the divine

A DARK PASSAGE

the journey commences-

the cosmic voyage

into

the darkest night

&

I enter a dark passage,

a dark passage to the divine,

I enter

&

pass through

&

come forth

from

the oval prison of the pitch-black night

&

feast on the light overflowing & everlasting

the holy light that heals

the light of ecstasy

at

the bottom of the spiral staircase

in

inner space where self creates self in an otherworldly explosion

but

dies at dawn

EMPTY

Empty,

dissolving and melting, my brain implodes in the sultry August night; I sweat profusely and ensconced in my wetness, micro fictions of my earthly metamorphosis escape and my skin opens up for a nanosecond

to let the Apocalypse in;

&

it shoots a toxic atom of unbearable truth into my being and breathless, delirious, almost unconscious, my lips quiver and my mind howls but no one hears me for IÕm empty, dissolving, and melting in a weird

nothingness that vanishes too,

after dark, in the summer

wasteland

RAW

In the winter of despair,

the wind howls with homeless pariahs, hiding beneath the Coney Island Boardwalk, gazing at the Chimera, the Monster of Paranoia and Soul-Slayer, while stoned on cheap liquor and toxic drugs;

& lost in a leperÕs phantasmagoria,

these outlaws, outcasts, outsiders, and freaks, high on poison and intoxicated with psychosis, inhale the raw despair and rage of this bestial winter day;

& crave the ultimate high, the thrill

of a lifetime, a raw ecstasy and the divine O.D. for the final exit.
