What If God Was One With Us?

it's simple

really

there's

this god of

vengeance

(you know

the one that

knows the

exact value

of each ear

or fingertip

the one who

is always

looking for

some other

god's ass to kick)

or there's

the god of

cause and

effect (you

do this for me

and I'll take

care of you

later on when

you are scared

and the walls

are closing in

unless something

else come along)

or the god

who suffers

from A.D.D.

(there was

something I

had to do

but what was

it?  well what

do you expect

I can't be held

responsible I've

got A.D.D.)

or the god

so many are

disappointed

with right now

(how could our

god let this

happen?

how could he

do this to me?)

or there is the

god that is here

and here and here

right now (and

for all the right

nows forever

you paid your

quarter, son, who

do you want to pick?

NUMBED --for John Thomas

Since you left
Me behind to
Roam this
Crazy wilderness
Here at the edge of
The 21st century

I'm seeing poems
In the trees
Where the wind
Whips them up
Like red Tibetan
Prayer flags

And poems are
Glancing off
The windshield
Like angry
Harangues from the
Sniper's rifle

Poems are dancing around
Me like gangs of leaves
Advancing through town
Ahead of a pending storm

Poems are everywhere
They reach out to me
Like desperate beggars
But they might as well
Be whiffs of smoke as
Anything else because

Since you been gone
There seems to be no reason
To hold onto these poems
For longer than a moment
No reason to archive
Anything since you
Been gone
