The Karma Blues
Honey, have you learned about the karma blues--
that whatever you do will come back to you,
  like it done to me.
You know all those bad things that I done
come back in my face sure as that rising sun.
I said, "Sugar, I'm leaving."
  Now I hear you're seeing
  someone new.

Babe, whatever you do will come back to you
like that crafty old bad old moon.

I said I was too too good.
Now I'm begging to shine your shoes.
I used to say, "I ain't got the time of day."
Now can't you give me just a minute, oh please Baby.
I thought I was cooler than cool,
but now that I'm standing in your shoes,
I don't much like the view.

Just remember Sweetie, whatever you do will come back to you
like that sad old bad old moon.

I couldn't say goodbye too soon. I said, "Later."
But now I'll take you anytime, anyway, anyhow, anything.
Ain't so proud of what I got--an awful lot of nothing.
You say you'll see me anywhere but now and here
and I got a cold hard feeling
that that black blue moon is reeling
  round again,
  coming my way.
And that new full moon be saying,
"You had it coming for a long time baby,
  and maybe
maybe next time round you'll be thinking, Angel,
that whatever you do will come back to you."

Yeah that karma school is a hard lesson in blues.
Love ain't like that cold bright moon,
once it's gone, oh Lover, it ain't coming back to you.
