That Smile On Her Lips Comes From Her Heart

that smile on her lips came from her heart
it pulled me over and gave me a start
not something shocking and sad
but something I needed quite bad
it gave me thought of new year’s eve
when the new year came and let the old leave
when the time did not stand still but floated
and so I smiled and gloated
a gloat that did not bray
but let me sing the day
out of tune and not that good
as I would wish I could
so I think of her heart
and know it is presently
strong and gay
throughout the day
and if I listen closely
I can hear it calling me
ok yes I am a dreamer
but she is such a neat girl
and has large eyes which always shine
right into this heart of mine
and yes it makes me smile

Children’s Poem

I love mommy and I love daddy
I love chicken patties
I love elephants and fresh potatoes
But I do not like alligators
I like my dog
And I like the t.v.
And I do like almost everything
That does or even says it likes me
I like barbecues
And I like front page news
And I appreciate nearly anything
Except for those alligators
