Episode 96 (J2L)
On the second evening,
they talked about what had been happening
up above---
all the ramifications ahead
for them both
yet headed in differing directions
so some would say.
The only ones to die
in this whole fracas,
they were poised
for anything
since life can not touch one
in places like this
it is said.
"It will change the world," said Jd.
"Undoubtedly," mumbled Je.
"And what a ride for us both!
Until the end of time!," Jd shouted.
"Probably. History is fickle, though,
I have been told," mused Je.
"It didn't hurt much?" asked Jd with guilt.
"Looking back now?
No."
"Me either."
"Yours is worse," countered Je,
"You did it to yourself.
That's verboten."
"Part of the game, you know," shrugged Jd.
"Yeah."
"What about L!" exclaimed Jd.
"He went through it twice.
Once is bad enough!"
"He just disappeared, you know," Je said.
Never was spoken of or seen again."
"Kind of a disappointment for him, I bet," added Jd.
"Least we got big names out of it all."
"A painting, play or musical."
"Or two, " added Jd.
"Or two, three," chuckled Je. "Maybe more...."
"You get to go back for about five weeks, right?" questioned Jd.
"Yeah."
"Then up.
I go down."
"All a part of a cause," smiled Je.
"I don't see how you can be so glib about that!"
"Just part of the game."
"A loaded one at that!" concluded Jd.
"However,
before we go," added Jd,
"what about JtB?
Has he been by today?"
"A couple of hours ago," replied Je.
"Going down to the river,
to do his usual thing?"
"Yeah. His usual."
"Hope he does not lose
his head," added Jd rudely.
"Again," chuckled Je.
"So you do have a sense of humor.
Who would have thunk it!"
"We 'hafta',
if we are 'gonna' get through this
with some of our selves
intact," said Je
returning to his regular voice.
They were finished
forever,
it was all said.
